Meet Roddy

Roddy is a little firecracker and so full of character for his young age. Roddy is as bold as brass and nothing really fazes him, he is super inquisitive and is always wondering whether there are any treats in his grooms’ pockets. He is the type of pony who cannot leave anything alone and is always so much fun. Little Roddy is good for all his handling but will have baby moments and can get a bit frustrated so he will need someone experienced out on loan. He is good for the vet and farrier, excellent to worm and load onto the horsebox. Roddy simply adores any kind of attention and will follow the grooms around the field to demand that he be brought in. He is extremely playful, a bit of an attention seeker and never a pushover as he always stands up for himself with the bigger horses. Due to his endless energy, he may be a bit much for an older horse to live with, but another spritely pony will love him. Roddy is a lovable youngster who enjoys plenty of cuddles and kisses so will make a brilliant family pony as he has such a kind nature. He is estimated to reach 12.1hh and will need assessed by a vet at five years old to decide if he can begin work; if backed to ride he will only be suitable for a small child. Roddy had a very poor start in life so he really deserves a loving new home where he will receive lots of care and attention. Due to his type, he will need his weight monitored and grazing restricted in the summer. The group of ponies he arrived with have had a high incidence of PSSM so managing Roddy’s condition is essential. He is currently having regular dental work to reduce some overgrowths but once reduced should be on yearly dental checks again. If you think that this cracking wee cob sounds like the right pony to join your family, please apply online.
