Meet The Maverick

Although Maverick is still a young horse we had to make the decision to rehome him as a companion only. Lameness issues when worked means he will never be suitable to ride, but he still has a lot going for him. Maverick is a lovely young man who is generally good to handle, although he will require an experienced and confident rehomer to maintain his good manners. He enjoys a fuss and attention and with the right person he has quite a lovable nature. Maverick will happily live out 24/7 or stable as required. Providing it is introduced gradually, he also has the added bonus to stay on his own for short periods if his companion goes out to be ridden. Maverick does need quite a specific type of companion, ideally something placid and non-reactive to his little quirks. We have never known Maverick to be nasty to others but as he was castrated late in life, Maverick can sometimes display dominant behaviour towards other horses. His ideal companion is one with a laid back temperament who is not easily intimidated and just ignores this behaviour. Maverick will then settle down. Overall Maverick is a great little horse who will give a lot of pleasure to a person with the time and experience to form a bond with him

Important stuff

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that The Maverick is not suitable to be worked.
