Meet Verstappen

Verstappen is a handsome boy who is looking for a new home as a companion pony. He has come on amazingly well with his handling since arriving at Belwade farm and although a naturally shy gelding he adores his handler and takes a lot of confidence from them. Verstappen was unhandled prior to coming to the farm and has a spooky nature meaning that he is unsuitable as a child’s ridden pony and wouldn’t be happy to be handled by children. He is a loving, affectionate pony once he gets to know you and adores coming in for a pamper. Verstappen will need a bit of feed to catch whilst he settles into a new home but will soon come out of his shell and will do pretty much anything for a treat. He is a playful, sociable gelding who gets on well with his field mates. He was gelded late but doesn’t seem to be bothered about the mares so could live in a mixed herd. The mares he has been in with were very bossy with him, so he just did as he was told and didn’t cause any problems so is not a dominant pony. Verstappen had a bad start to life and deserves a loving new home with other playful ponies. He is a good doer so requires a home on restricted grazing and will happily live out un-rugged so is well suited to the Scottish winters. Verstappen stands well for the farrier but can be a little worried about the vet so will need some reassurance from his handler. He is such a good boy but due to his past will need someone confident to take him on loan. If you think you could offer this lovely lad a new home, please apply online.

Important stuff

Verstappen can never be ridden or driven.

All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Verstappen is not suitable to be worked.

History

Verstappen came into World Horse Welfare care in April 2023 as part of a large welfare case of ponies. Verstappen was unhandled, in poor condition and entire on arrival at Belwade Farm. He has since been gelded and gone through his rehabilitation.
